I am going to be getting my worker's permit soon, but what jobs allow 14 year olds to work through a check and not under the table?
There are many jobs that can hire 14 year olds. However, just because they CAN doesn't mean they WILL.to see if they hire anyone under the age of 16 years old. Even if they hire people at 14, you need to check in with your local restaraunt because some managers place different, stricter rules. I also know that Chick-Fil-A hires, so you could try that if you have one of those around you. If you live in an urban/city area, you shuld try family owned stores, you might have better luck there if you don't in major chain stores/restaraunts. You might have better luck considering there isn't as much competition for the position, you might get to ask the person that owns the store themself and make a good impression on them, and they have more lenient rules. Also, since summer is coming up, try amusement parks, hotels, and tourist areas because summer is the time for many families to travel and the store owners/managers need more help with the store.
If you want to apply to a job, you should apply now because the competition for a job will be even more fierce since summer is coming up and many teens have more time to work, gas prices are rising, and prices of many things are going up. You have to show them that you're responsible and will work hard at the job. I have heard that McDonalds offer jobs for 16 year olds, there are also many other restaraunts that hire people at the age of 14. To start off, you should check the website of major chain restauraunts such as Subways, Wendys, etc.. Not only that, but you will be competing again soon to be college students, college students, and people of your age. Applying/asking for a job now will give you an advantage that you have more opportunities now that when summer comes and school lets out. Also, if you have a lot of family owned stores around your area, don't be afraid to go in there and actually ask if they have a part time position for teens such as yourself (bring your blue card when asking because you never know if its an on the spot interview).
Edit: Just in case anyone says that 14 year olds are not allowed to work according to federal law, thats now true, all you usually need is a work permit depending on your state:
Children are protected under FLSA and the child labor requirements. Under FLSA, children 14 and 15 years old are restricted by the types of jobs they may hold, the time of day they may work and the amount of hours they may work. Consideration is given for summer versus school months. In addition, children of this age are not allowed to work overtime hours, even in summer month.
You are still looking for employment opportunities for 14-year-old? The next generation could be a greater help to the world as if they are adequately trained to an autonomous, responsible and independent. Young people are in real life and financial struggle. At 14 and 15-year-old young people, must learn the value of money and hard work. To this end, young people should make their own housing, although they are still very young, the real work of great importance to security and compensation.
Excited!
